Mathematics
Mathematics is one of the most time-consuming and challenging subjects for students in Grade 12. It is rooted in practical numerical calculations and requires students to have an understanding of mathematical reasoning. However, if you enjoy these elements and a good challenge, then Mathematics could be the perfect subject for you!
To pass mathematics, you need to achieve a final mark of 30% or higher. This mark consists of two parts: an exam mark contributing to 75% of your final mark and a Subject-Based Assessment (SBA) mark contributing to the remaining 25%.
Grade 12 Mathematics Content:

The Exam
Mathematics is assessed through two written examinations that are worth 150 marks each. You are given three hours to complete each paper.
- Paper 1 examines the following topics: algebra, equations and inequalities, number patterns, functions and graphs, finance, growth and decay, differential calculus, and the counting principle and probability.
- Paper 2 examines the following topics: statistics and regression, analytical geometry, trigonometry, and Euclidean geometry.
